How was Our First Computer and Technology?

Everybody knows about computer's history and its progress. From the last decade computer was introduced in smaller shape and greater functionality. Nowadays cell phone is functioning like a computer. Recently computer world also introduced its latest model like a Tablet PC.

The first electronic computer called "Hervel Decatron" was introduced in 1950. Its size was almost same as SUV type motors. But output from this computer was just like a calculator. It is programmable digital computer existed since 60 years. It's 95% parts are original. It was created for UK atomic energy research establishment. Only simple mathematical work was done by this computer. Its computation rate was 0.1 Flops means today's calculator rate. It was functioning its work for so many hours without any human interface.

Before 60 years transistor and micro-chips was not  invented. All electronic work is done through the radio - valve is filled with gas. After that new machinery was invented and Herval Deeraton was used only for specific purposes only.

In 1957, this computer was used to provide a computer process introduction to student of Wolverhampton University. This project was known as a Wolverhampton instrument for teaching computing from Harvel. This project was run up to 1974 and all students were familiar with the computation process due to Harvel computer. In 1974, it was stopped and kept in museum in Birmingham. Next in 1977 this museum was closed and Harvel Decatron also becomes useful.

This computer was not sold as scrap. It was separated into parts and kept in Birmingham by UK citizens. In 2008, again Mr.Kavin Marel member of the national computer museum was attracted towards this Harvel. He studied about its history and decided to redevelop this. Mr.Dalvin Hallroid also helped in this project.
At this time Harvel's internal system was prepared as per old manual telephone exchange. Nowadays electronic microchips are very strong and able to fight against dust also. 480 telephone exchange relay was used in Harvel's logic operation circuit. It included more than 7000 contacts. This type of system must be kept away from dust. Just imagine that how it was difficult to redevelop this Harvel computer stored in boxes since 15 years.

828 dynatron tubes were used for smooth functioning of mathematical process unit. It's RAM was unbelievable for today's generation; it was only 340 bytes not KB or MB. This RAM was used because Harvel had to memorize some 12 symbol and 1 to 100 digits only. For multiplication and divination accumulator was used.

Some specific words like "Paper Tape Readers" was used for data input and programmed. This paper tape was useless after some months or you cannot use twice.
So, this is the history of today’s tablet PC. Somebody asked that why it was redeveloped where ales always new changes are done in computers? The answer is today's electronic revolution is developing due to those scientists who had greatest will power and ability. We should not forget ancient electronic system is the base of today’s successful mechanical process.
